SCS Administrator Transition: We Meet Robert Waters as Trish King Retires from Faithful Service

Dear Sussex Christian School Family, Community and Association Members:

As announced at our Annual Association meeting last year, Mrs. King will be retiring from her position as Administrator of Sussex Christian School at the end of August, after 33 years of faithful service to SCS and the Lord. We are so grateful for Mrs. King’s years of service and dedication at SCS; from parent, to OEL mom, to Teacher, to Administrator. Her passion and love for Sussex Christian School, our community, and Christian education has radiated from her in all aspects of her life. The School Board, along with our community, honor her in her retirement.

As God’s path calls for a leadership change, the School Board is excited to welcome Mr. Robert Waters to Sussex Christian School as our new Administrator, beginning in August. The SCS Search Committee and Board of Directors are thrilled to have Mr. Waters join us. Mr. Waters comes to us with over 13 years of teaching experience along with a master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction with a focus in Early Childhood Literacy. He has served in education department leadership roles adding to his experiences beyond the classroom. Mr. Waters, along with his wife Emily and two daughters Ella (Annabella) and Lily, are eager to accept this call. In addition, we are excited that they will be living in the house on the school’s campus which will be a great asset to our community and their ability to share together in this mission of school leadership and service.

We look forward to Mr. Waters joining us at our upcoming Association Meeting providing one of many opportunities for the community to meet and greet him in person. In the coming weeks, Mr. Waters will be visiting classrooms, meeting with staff, meeting with our committees, and shadowing alongside Mrs. King. We look forward to shaping the strategic direction of SCS and are excited for his official full-time start beginning August 1st. If you ‘run into him’ please introduce yourself and welcome him.

On behalf of the School Board and the Search Committee, we are so grateful for God leading Mr. Waters to fill this position. We are eager to see him work alongside Mrs. King as she passes her leadership roles on to him. We are also grateful for the many years of service Mrs. King has given to SCS and look forward to honoring her in her retirement.

We continue to praise and thank the Lord for answered prayers, His wisdom, guidance and timing in providing for SCS. We continue to covet your prayers and support during this time of transition for both Mrs. King and Mr. Waters and their families.
