Open Positions
Job Description: Middle School teachers at Sussex Christian School promote high academic achievement and learning for their students in a positive, Christ-centered atmosphere. Middle School teachers are responsible for instructing their students in specific content areas in grades 6-8. God has continued to bless us with small class sizes, a devoted community of families, and a fellowship of dedicated and loving teachers.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Current teaching certificate (e.g., ACSI certificate or state certification)
Elementary Education, Secondary Certification in Mathematics
and/or Science preferred - Endorsement in special education or with special education experience is
desired - Dedication to excellence in education for all learners

Early elementary teachers at Sussex Christian School bring the joy of learning to their students in a positive, loving, Christ-centered atmosphere. Elementary teachers are responsible for instructing their students in all subject areas including math, science, phonics, writing and Bible. Sussex Christian School thrives on experiential learning both in the classroom and in the Outdoor Learning Center.

The Behavioral Specialist will collaborate with teachers, the Special Education department, parents, and Administrator to best meet the social, emotional, and behavioral needs of struggling students. In order to meet this need, the Behavior Specialist will organize professional development and support for staff members, biblically based social/emotional training, counseling for students, and behavioral support and strategies for students with an ISP or 504 plan.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree; Master’s Degree preferred.
- Current teaching certificate (e.g., ACSI certificate or state certification) and a Special Education endorsement.
- Counseling certification or experience is greatly desired.

The Special Education Coordinator works as a liaison with the Sussex County Educational Services Commission to ensure state provided services are rendered, monitors testing for identified students, compiles and maintains ISP paperwork, and works with teachers in areas related to special services.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree; Master’s Degree preferred.
- Certification, concentration and/or experience in Special Education
- Superb organizational skills.

Part Time (Partially Remote)
Job Description: The Advancement Officer reports to the Administrator and is responsible for leading and executing the school’s donor development efforts to support its mission and operations. This role will cultivate and steward relationships with donors, identify new philanthropic support opportunities, and manage the school’s donor development programs.
Responsibilities:
- Donor development strategy: Develop and implement a comprehensive donor development strategy aligned with the school’s mission and goals.
- Donor cultivation: Identify, cultivate, and steward relationships with individual donors, corporations, foundations, and other potential supporters.
- Grant writing: Research and write grant proposals to secure funding from foundations and government agencies.
- Donor database management: Maintain an accurate and up-to-date donor database.
- Reporting: Prepare regular reports on donor development activities and progress toward goals.
- Coordination and support: Collaborate with Board of Directors, Committees, school staff and volunteers to support donor development efforts.
Qualifications:
- Active participant in a Christian church.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in fundraising, marketing, or a related field.
- Proven track record in donor development, preferably in a nonprofit or educational setting.
- Knowledge of non-profit donor development best practices.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Grant writing experience.
- Microsoft 365 and donor development software experience.
- Passion for the mission and vision of Sussex Christian School.
The School Resource Officer provides security and maintains safety plans for the school. The School Resource Officer monitors the school campus, ensures best safety
procedures are in place for potential threats, and conducts drills with students and staff. The School Resource Officer is the main security resource of the school and is a certified or retired police officer.
