OEL – Ora et Labora
PRAY & WORK
Here at Sussex Christian School, we consider each parent, child, grandparent, alumni and supporter of our school part of our family. We come together to help the school, its families, and members of the community in fellowship, praise, and need. Parent participation is strongly encouraged at SCS, and it is one of the key reasons for the long-term success of our school. Parents are encouraged to get involved whenever possible.
Who we are and what we do
- Fundraising through auctions, dinners, bake sales, walkathons, book fairs,, etc. (new ideas are created each year)
- OEL is responsible for identifying hot lunch coordinators and volunteers so that the kids can have hot lunch every week throughout the year.
- OEL assists with providing much-needed equipment and offset costs to teachers throughout each year, allowing for each teacher to provide more activities or opportunities in their classrooms.
- OEL provides school board assistance when needed.
- OEL creates opportunities for social gatherings and potlucks, bringing the SCS community together for fellowship and fun.
- OEL implements the T.R.I.P program for tuition assistance throughout the year for any parents that are interested. Further details regarding this can be provided by Ms. Felicia Mann
- OEL provides overall support to the admin and teachers of the school. The funds raised by OEL recognized Teacher Appreciation Days, prepare luncheons for in-service, provide funds for school supplies
- OEL members have also provided funeral luncheon assistance under the “Christians Helping Other People” (CHOP) program to many families in need during hard times of loss. Members volunteer their time when able to provide meals and prepare an inviting space for families and friends to gather during the most difficult of times.
