Welcome, Miss Anna Poet
Meet Miss Anna Poet, Kindergarten teacher! We’re excited to welcome Miss. Anna Poet to the SCS Community! Get to know her in the questions below!
Where and when did you start teaching?
I just graduated college in December and worked as a long-term substitute teacher at Northwest Christian School as a middle school science teacher. Prior to this I have worked as a camp counselor for 8 summers at various camps, along with being a school tour guide at an apple orchard. All of these experiences have prepared me for this first year of teaching, and I am excited for my first year teaching!
What brought you to SCS?
Subbing for Mrs. Wilson last year.
What is your favorite thing about teaching kindergarten
I love kindergarten because they are so excited and curious about everything, and we get to wonder about and learn so much together. They begin the year not knowing very much, and leave with the ability to read. I am very excited to be able to help this happen for my students!
What about Christian education excites and energizes you the most?
I am excited to give my students a good quality Christian education. Christ is central to everything in life, and in order to prepare my students for life, I need to partner with parents to equip them with a good education and a closer walk with Christ.
Tell us about your testimony.
I grew up in church hearing the gospel of Christ taking the punishment for my sins upon Himself, and I confessed my sins, and asked for His forgiveness when I was young. It has been a gradual process of walking closer and closer to Him, but my life is a very clear proof of God’s faithful pursuit of me. I am so thankful for His goodness and mercy that have followed me and has brought me here to teach at Sussex Christian School.
Tell us about your family.
I grew up in Pennsylvania with my four siblings. Three of my siblings are in Colorado, one is in Virginia, and my parents are still in PA. I am the second youngest of the five of us, and I love and miss them very much.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
I love working at camp, playing sports, running, being outdoors, and adventuring in general.
Share a fun fact about yourself.
I ran my first Spartan (sprint) last September, and my first ultramarathon (30 miler) last December.
