Welcome, Mrs. Kathryn Thompson
Meet Mrs. Kathryn Thompson, 2nd grade teacher! We’re excited to welcome Mrs. Thompson and her family to the SCS Community!
Where and when did you start teaching?
I’ve worked as a classroom teacher teaching students in grades 6-12 in Family & Consumer Sciences (Home Economics). I also taught Family & Consumer Sciences online for a virtual school.Prior to that, I worked as a K-3 Teaching Assistant in literacy instruction.
In each role, I’ve been reminded that all students are shaped differently and what matters most is fortifying your relationship with each one as you guide them in learning and growing into who God calls them to be.
What brought you to SCS?
My family and I most recently moved back to this area from Texas and were in search of a private Christian school for our two children. We heard about SCS through our church and are so grateful that we did.
What is your favorite thing about teaching 2nd grade?
Second graders are the perfect blend of “little” and “big”. They are sweet, fun, hardworking and eager to learn. They are making more sense of themselves and the world around them. It’s a wonderful age filled with lots of joy and growth.
Why are you passionate about Christian education?
I love how Christian education can provide a truthful, loving, and Christ-centered environment.
Tell us about your testimony.
I came to know the Lord when I moved away to college and was shown how to have a personal relationship with Him. Ever since then, my life has been powerfully effected by God’s grace, peace, truth, and redeeming work. I love praying for my students and their walk with Jesus, and reminding them of the hope that can be found in Him.
Tell us about your family.
My husband and I have a 5 year old son and a 3 year old daughter.
