4 Kids, 16 Years at SCS: Why Christian Education Was the Best Investment We Made

Christian education has been a part of Anne and my life since childhood. Anne attended SCS for 8 years and 4 years of Christian high school, I attended Goshen Christian School for 8 years. Our parents prioritized our education, and they saw the blessing of being part of a Christian community even when disposable income was not a luxury.
When Anne and I decided to get married and we were discussing and planning on where to set up our home, we felt that availability to Christian education was a priority. We decided on SCS, and Wantage is where we settled.
When our first daughter was born, we had the wise counsel of a God-fearing investment advisor who steered us into setting up an account and investing $50 per month to start with the intention of using that money for Christian college. We added children over the next 8 years, a son and two daughters, and with each child we added accounts and as God blessed our family we added funds to those accounts.
Over the years we recognized the investments we were making for college were increasing and we were able to start saving for grade school and high school. With four children in grade school at the same time, the tuition bill was increasing, but we could see how the investments being made in our children were being blessed and we saw a spiritual and educational return that was beyond what we could have asked for.
God blessed us and our children, as we grew in our faith and grew closer to Him in our walk. God provided for our family, as we walked with so many other Christian parents, making those monthly payments. God blessed us with work, and the talents to do that work. He blessed us with health, family that loved and supported us, and a Christian community that worked together to support Christian education. Teachers and administration poured their hearts and skills into our children.
Many parents ask what was the cost of Christian education, was it all worth it? Four children through SCS and Veritas, and three girls in Christian college, and we wouldn’t change a thing.
We feel the investments we made in Christian education have paid lifelong dividends for our children, but also for Anne and me. The lifelong friendships we developed with Christian parents and teachers, the friendships our children developed, the spiritual development we all received, and witnessing the blessing of allowing God to bless our family in this way, is the best return we could receive.
